Air Filter Media - Polyester Cloth vs Non-Woven Fabric
Apr 23, 2025
1. Material
Polyester cloth is a cloth made of polyester fiber as raw material, while non-woven fabric is made of synthetic fiber, viscose fiber, natural fiber, etc.
Polyester fiber is a thermoplastic plastic, and non-woven fabric is a fiber mesh structure directly formed without going through the weaving process, so the materials of the two are different
2. Manufacturing process:
Polyester cloth: The manufacturing process is similar to the traditional textile process, including the processing of fiber raw materials, spinning, weaving, printing and dyeing, etc., with a long production cycle and high cost
Non-woven fabric: The fibers are directly bonded together by physical methods to form a mesh structure, with a short production cycle and low cost.
3. Physical properties
Non-woven fabric is softer, thinner and more breathable than polyester fabric. Its texture is also softer and more comfortable to touch.
Polyester fabric is tougher, harder to tear, and more wear-resistant.
4. Uses
Non-woven fabrics are usually used in medical, health, home and clothing fields. Due to its good breathability, it is also often used to make masks, protective clothing and other items.
Polyester fabrics are more suitable for outdoor products, packaging materials and industrial purposes.
5. Price
Non-woven fabrics are cheaper than polyester fabrics. Its production cost is relatively low, so the price is more affordable.
Polyester fabrics are relatively expensive, but because of its toughness and durability, they are more popular in some fields.
