The difference between PE and PP sintered filter
Sep 17, 2025
Both PP and PE sintered filter elements are made from polymer materials (polypropylene or polyethylene) through a high-temperature sintering process. However, their specific materials and performance differ as follows:
Materials and Characteristics
PP (Polypropylene) Filter Elements
1. Made from hot-melt entangled polypropylene microfibers, they form a three-dimensional microporous structure with a gradient pore size distribution along the filtrate flow direction, enabling simultaneous surface, deep, and fine filtration.
2. Highly corrosion-resistant, suitable for acidic and alkaline environments, with high strength and resistance to deformation, they are commonly used in water treatment and other fields.
PE (Polyethylene) Filter Elements
1. Made from ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE), these elements achieve a high porosity after sintering, resulting in high flow rate per unit area and strong contamination resistance.
2. Their smooth surface allows for easy backwashing, is wear-resistant, and is reusable, making them widely used in industrial liquid filtration.
Applications
PP Filter Elements
Suitable for high-precision filtration (e.g., 0.5-100μm), commonly used in applications requiring corrosion resistance, such as water treatment and chemical engineering.
PE filter element
Specialized for high-flow filtration (such as industrial water treatment), it offers high wear resistance and is commonly used in frequently used filtration systems.
