Working  Principle

 

The primary function of a dust filter is to separate solid particles from a gas, and it does so through a combination of several physical mechanisms:
  • •Sieving (or Screening): This is the most basic principle, where filter media acts like a sieve, blocking and trapping any dust particle larger than the pores of the filter material.
  • •Inertial Impaction & Interception: As the air flows around the fibers of the filter media, larger or high-velocity dust particles cannot follow the airstream's path through the filter. Due to their inertia, they collide directly with a fiber and are trapped. Medium-sized particles may also be intercepted when they come into proximity with a fiber and stick to it.

  • •Diffusion: The smallest dust particles (typically sub-micron in size) are in constant, random motion (Brownian motion). This random movement increases the chance that they will come into contact with and be captured by the filter fibers. This principle is particularly effective for capturing the most harmful, ultra-fine particulates.
  • •Electrostatic Attraction: Many filter elements are designed with or have materials that create electrostatic charges. These static forces can attract oppositely charged dust particles, enhancing the capture of fine dust without hindering airflow.
