Oil Filter Element Structure

A properly designed oil filter element requires both effective filtration media and reliable mechanical support. This filter element uses yellow filter paper as the main filtration layer. The pleated design increases the available filtration area within the cylindrical housing, allowing the filter element to maintain a relatively compact size while providing sufficient contact area between the oil and filter media.

The inner and outer carbon steel perforated plates provide mechanical support for the filter paper. Their perforated construction allows oil to pass through while helping protect the filter media from excessive deformation. Reinforcing ribs provide additional structural strength, particularly when the filter element is exposed to pressure differences during operation.

The carbon steel end caps complete the filter assembly and provide a rigid structure for installation. The actual structure can be adjusted according to different equipment requirements.

 

Yellow Filter Paper for Oil Filtration

The filter media is an important component of an industrial oil filter because it directly affects particle removal, dirt-holding capacity and service life. This model uses yellow filter paper as the primary filtration material.

During filtration, contaminated oil passes through the filter media while unwanted solid particles are retained by the filter paper. The pleated configuration provides a larger effective filtration area than a simple flat layer, helping the element accommodate a greater amount of filter media within its cylindrical structure.

Oil filtration performance is influenced by many factors, including filter paper grade, filtration rating, oil viscosity, contamination concentration, flow rate, operating pressure and temperature. For this reason, the filter media should be selected according to the actual working conditions rather than relying only on the appearance of the filter element.
 

Reinforced Carbon Steel Filter Construction

For industrial filtration applications, the mechanical structure of a filter element is as important as the filtration media. This oil filter cartridge uses carbon steel end caps together with carbon steel perforated plates and reinforcing ribs to create a reinforced filter construction.

The perforated support plates help maintain the position of the filter media and provide structural support during oil flow. The reinforcing ribs further improve the rigidity of the element and help reduce deformation under operating conditions.

This construction is suitable when customers require an oil filter element with a stronger support structure. The specific material and construction can also be adjusted according to the customer's equipment, pressure conditions and filtration requirements.
 

How Oil Filtration Works

An oil filter element separates unwanted solid contaminants from oil as the fluid passes through the filter media. Contaminated oil enters the filtration area and flows through the yellow filter paper. Particles and impurities are retained by the filter media, while filtered oil continues through the supporting structure.

The performance of an oil filtration system depends on the complete filtration system rather than the filter element alone. Filter media selection, filtration rating, flow direction, oil viscosity, pressure difference and operating temperature can all affect filtration results.

Regular inspection of the filter element can also help identify excessive contamination or pressure increase. When the filter becomes heavily loaded with contaminants, filtration efficiency and oil flow conditions may be affected.
