Product Description

This 110x250mm hydraulic suction oil filter element is designed for hydraulic oil filtration before the fluid enters the hydraulic pump. It features a fiberglass filter layer combined with galvanized protective mesh for filtration and structural protection. The carbon steel perforated inner support helps maintain the element's shape during operation. The aluminum upper end cap and carbon steel lower end cap provide a durable and practical construction. With a G1 inch female thread connection, the filter element is suitable for compatible suction filter housings and hydraulic systems. Customized filtration ratings, dimensions, filter media and connections are available.

What is a Suction Oil Filter Element

A suction oil filter element is a filtration component installed in the suction line between a hydraulic oil tank and the hydraulic pump. Its main function is to remove solid contaminants from hydraulic oil before the fluid enters the pump, helping reduce wear and protect critical hydraulic components.

Unlike high-pressure filters installed downstream of the pump, suction filters are designed with low pressure drop and sufficient flow capacity to avoid restricting oil flow to the pump. They are commonly used in hydraulic power units, construction machinery, agricultural equipment, and industrial hydraulic systems.

A suction oil filter element typically consists of filter media, support layers, an inner perforated core, end caps, and a connection structure. Depending on the application, materials such as fiberglass, stainless steel mesh, synthetic fiber, or other filtration media can be used.

For replacement applications, the filter should be selected according to the original dimensions, connection type, filtration rating, flow requirements, and hydraulic system specifications to ensure proper compatibility.

2. The suction oil filter element has large dirt holding capacity and low pressure differential, it can work continuously and stably under high flow conditions, and effectively extends the service life of hydraulic system, and reduces the risk of equipment faults and downtime caused by pollution.

3. Suction filter cartridge has high temperature and corrosion resistance, can adapt to different types of oil and harsh environments. It has great adaptability and durability. Some models also support washing and reuse, and the long-term operating costs can be reduced.

The Difference Between Suction Oil Filter and Return Oil Filter

Install Position

►Suction oil filter element usually installed at the suction port of the oil pump, or below the oil level in the oil tank. Intercepts the impurities entering the oil pump directly.
►Return oil filter element usually installed at the end of the return oil pipeline, or on the top of the oil tank. Treats the polutants during system operating.

Filter Fuction

►Suction filter mainly filters large solid particles, to prevent them enter the oil pump, and protect the hydraulic system.
►Return filter mainly filters fine pollutants, such as metal powder and colloids generated during the system operation, to maintain the oil cleanliness.

Filter Media

►Suction oil filter mainly use stainless steel metal mesh or wire gap, to reduce flow resistance.
►Return oil filter mainly use fiberglass folding mesh, to increase the filtration efficiency.

Filtration Accuracy

►Suction oil filter element has a low precision requirement, usually at a range of 10-180μm.
►Return oil filter element has a higher filter precison, usually up to 1-10μm, to ensure the oil cleanliness of long standing.

Working Pressure

►The initial differential pressure of the suction filter element should be ≤0.003MPa, and the maximum differential pressure should be ≤0.02MPa, to avoid affecting the oil pump's suction capacity.
►The ultimate differential pressure of the return filter element should be 0.2-0.35MPa, and the working pressure should be below 1MPa. The impact of hydraulic shock on the filter element must be considered.

Flow selection coefficient‌

►The flow of the suction filter element is designed according to the maximum flow of the oil pump multiplied by 1.5-2 times, to satisfied the high flow rate requirement.
►The return oil filter element needs to be designed multiplied by 2-4 times of the peak flow of the system return oil, to cope with instantaneous high pressure flow.
