A Customized Filtration Solution for Beverage Processing

TOPEP developed a customized stainless steel mobile filtration cart for a professional brewing and distilling equipment company in Australia. Designed for carbon removal from alcoholic beverages, this solution combines stainless steel filter housings, replaceable filter cartridges and a purpose-built trolley structure into a compact, mobile filtration unit.

Unlike standard standalone filter housings, this system was designed around the customer's specific equipment layout and filtration requirements. The integration of multiple filtration components into a single mobile structure helps create a more organized equipment arrangement and offers greater flexibility for beverage processing operations.

Product Highlights and Customization Advantages

Integrated Mobile Structure: The stainless steel trolley brings the filtration equipment together in one compact unit. Its customized layout is intended to make equipment positioning and movement more convenient, particularly in production environments where filtration equipment may need to be repositioned to suit different processing tasks.

Flexible Filter Housing Configurations: Both 10-inch and 20-inch filter housing configurations were considered for the project, with different cartridge quantities to suit the customer's proposed system design. This flexibility allows the filtration arrangement to be adapted to available installation space and the required filtration setup rather than relying on a single standard configuration.

Stainless Steel Material Options: SS304 and SS316 were evaluated for the filter housing. These stainless steel options offer practical choices for industrial and beverage-processing equipment. The final material should be selected according to the beverage composition, cleaning procedures and applicable hygiene requirements.

Multiple Cartridge Micron Ratings: The initial filtration requirements included 0.45 μm, 1 μm and 5 μm cartridges. Different micron ratings can support different filtration stages, depending on the target contaminants and process objectives. The appropriate cartridge combination should be determined through application testing and confirmation of the customer's final process requirements.

Considered Equipment Integration: Pump selection and installation space were important aspects of the customized design. The pump arrangement was evaluated against the requested flow and electrical supply requirements, while the trolley layout was developed to accommodate the intended equipment configuration. This approach helps ensure that the filtration unit is considered as a complete system rather than simply a collection of separate components.

D
esigned for Carbon Removal in Beverage Production

The primary application of this project was carbon removal from alcoholic beverages. Depending on the beverage and process conditions, a suitably selected filtration system can help retain carbon particles and other targeted suspended contaminants while allowing the liquid to pass through the filter media.

A mobile filtration cart can be useful in craft breweries, distilleries and beverage-processing facilities where adaptable equipment arrangements are valuable. Potential applications for similar customized systems include beverage clarification, particulate removal and other liquid filtration tasks, provided the filter media, micron rating, housing materials and operating conditions are appropriate for the specific liquid.

The final filtration performance depends on the selected cartridge media, contaminant characteristics, flow rate, pressure conditions and overall system design. Cartridge micron ratings alone do not guarantee a particular level of beverage clarity or carbon removal.

Built Around the Customer's Equipment Requirements

This project demonstrates TOPEP's ability to customize filtration equipment beyond standard cartridge supply. By considering the filter housing dimensions, cartridge arrangement, stainless steel material options, pump requirements and trolley layout together, the solution was developed around the customer's intended production setup.

The customized unit was specified as one complete set and prepared for wooden-crate packaging for export. For manufacturers and equipment integrators seeking a tailored filtration arrangement, a custom mobile filtration cart can provide a practical starting point for combining filtration components into a more adaptable equipment solution.

TOPEP supports customized industrial filtration solutions based on application requirements, equipment drawings and project specifications. Contact our team to discuss stainless steel filter housings, replacement cartridges or customized mobile filtration equipment for your process.
